A journal of running, healthy food, mountains, bikes and technology by Julia Revitt

There we were, in Morzine to check out the mountain biking when all these roadies turned up! Turns out we’d stumbled into the finish of Le Dauphine Libere. The riders had just completed a gruelling 167.5k mountain stage and judging by Bradley Wiggin’s face above – it was a tough one.

The Mavic car followed by team cars and a helicopter swooping in announced the arrival of the riders.

Nairo Quintana leads the pack to the finish line.

Followed by Cadel Evans showing just how hard the stage by the effort etched on his face.

Riders further down the pack were putting in just as much effort as the leaders. The Morzine crowd cheered everyone in accompanied by raucous banging of the hoardings.

These boys were moving at some pace considering that they’d been riding all day.

Cadel was definitely the man of the moment and looked very happy with his 2nd place finish.

Despite being mugged by the press, Cadel manages a smile for the camera!

I’m sure Bradley will be smiling later when today’s race sinks in a bit. Well done to him.
